A lot of people asked us what our “theme” was in our nursery and we always fumbled our answer. We didn’t really have a “theme” as much as a few colors that we liked and the idea of forest creatures but only in the form of the picture we purchased while we were in Asheville. Despite not having a clear theme, we had a good vision and I think it turned out pretty well.
Our crib and changing table are from IKEA. We just changed out the knobs to make it match our color scheme. The musical forest creatures print is from a little shop in Asheville that we stumbled upon during one of our last trips as a family of two.
I found this idea on Pinterest and my father-in-law painted and put it together for us. It’s super helpful to just be able to reach up and grab diapers and wipes in the middle of the night and L loves looking up at his toys.
We have a small chest of drawers in the corner in his room which houses most of his day-to-day clothes.
Maghon (May) Taylor of All She Wrote Notes hand-lettered this globe (purchased from Marshall’s) for our nursery. I love that it screams adventure and travel, which we definitely want Liam to have a passion for!
I submitted my request for this letter from the President before L was born, and hoped that he would receive his version from the Obamas. He was born in the wee hours of the morning on the last day of President Obama’s tenure (and inauguration day) and we came home to this note that was postmarked the day before L’s birthday. Such a special piece that I hope he’ll treasure when he’s older. #ThanksObama
We spend a lot of time nursing and rocking in our glider. The pillow is a special piece that was made from one of my Paw Paw’s old shirts and the blanket was made for us. We were planning to get an ordinary side table but found this unique piece online at Target and were sold. What is more woodland-y than that?
Several of our baby showers asked guests to bring books instead of cards, which helped us build his library. The fox lamp is from Target and a nod to my mother-in-law’s maiden name. My crafty husband made the string art sign (he sells them on Etsy!) out of a piece of wood from my Paw Paw.
He can’t talk yet to tell us but we think he is happy with his nursery!
