How soon is too soon to start planning for baby’s first Christmas?!
We are just NINE weeks away from the big day and I’ve already compiled a list for L. I wanted to share a few things here – maybe to help other new parents plan for their own babies under one.
His list is 80% books. He loves to read – and especially to help flip the pages. And I’ve always been a firm believer that you can’t have too many books. But, because we also want him to experience other things – I’ve added a few childhood classics and a few learning toys as well!
- Indoor/outdoor slide
- It’s okay to be different book
- Baby Doll (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0036AWTDM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Az39zbVWG0AYZ)
- Little Tikes basketball goal
- Wooden food prep kit
- Bike seat
The slide and basketball goal will be fun for him, while the book will teach him about differences in people, the wooden food toys will teach him about prepping and cooking food with mama and daddy and the baby will teach him to be gentle, nurturing and caring. Also, very appropriate since he will have a new cousin this Christmas! The bike seat is so we can take family rides around the neighborhood.
I am obsessing over this busy board – I mean, what a great idea! I don’t mind the $50 price tag but I hate that shipping is almost 1/2 the cost of the board.
We also added this fun car to his list for our neighborhood walks.
And we asked for essentials that L will need next year: 18 month clothes, a new zipadeezip, bath stuff…
And we’re definitely including a membership to the Museum of Life and Science! Because experiences are way better than THINGS!
We’ve been pretty good about getting rid of things or putting them away as L outgrows them and rotating in new things (or new to him things – swap & sell sites are amazing!). We want him to have things but not have ALL the things and be anxious from having too much clutter or too many options.
I like that the things we have registered for are a good mix of indoor and outdoor use – but also things that will hold up and be useable for years to come.
What are your must-haves for an almost 1-year old?
