A friend and I were talking about asking for experiences for our kids for Christmas over a bunch of things that will be tossed aside in a few months time (seriously, these kids outgrow toys in 90 days!).
For those in Chapel Hill (or the triangle area), here’s what we came up with for our will-be almost 1 year olds at Christmas:
- Museum of Life and Science (we both asked for this from grandparents)
- Nostasium
- Kidzu
- Marbles kids museum
- Jammin’ Baby
- Tumble Gym
- Morehead Planetarium
- Swim lessons at the YMCA
- Tickets to the North Carolina Zoo
- Lemur Center
- An afternoon at Pullen Park
- Tiger Rescue
L also LOVES flowers so we’ll be planning spring trips to the Duke Gardens, Botanical Garden and Fearrington! These are all FREE and perfect for daytime adventures!
Another free option is story-time! Lots of libraries and coffee shops in the area offer story time throughout the week! And since our kiddo loves to “read” this is a great option for him!
The best part is grandparents / fun aunts and uncles can do these things with the kiddos and make memories together.
While L will still have a few presents under the tree, I can almost guarantee the things he will remember will come from experiences and not pieces of plastic.
What are your favorite things to do with your littles in the triangle area? Anything I missed?
