Going FASTer

I’m on my second official round of the FASTer Way to Fat Loss program. The “FAST” part comes in because of the intermittent fasting you do in the program.

Left: Jan 1; Right: April 28

In between my first and second rounds, I continued with fasting, carb cycling and tracking my macros but I adjusted my days so they aligned with my training for the Tar Heel 10 Miler.

In between rounds, we also spent a week in Costa Rica at an all-inclusive resort. While I was conscious of my macros and days, I was not strict during this time.

I’m on week 4 of round 2 currently and feel amazing. Intermittent Fasting is totally just a lifestyle for me now. It’s a little annoying for Landon — especially on the weekends but it works. And our meals are the same for the most part, I just pay more attention to my portion sizes and macros. Landon even complimented the cauliflower rice risotto last night (only 4g of carbs!).

Above you’ll see some of the delicious food I’ve had over the last few weeks — and you’ll notice that I’m not starving myself and I’m still enjoying LOTS of carbs. I’ve also still had dessert, donuts and a beer here and there. That’s what I love about this program and why I invested for a second round. You don’t have to deprive yourself of foods and even on “low carb” days, I’m still getting almost 50 grams (which is more than a keto diet).

I have more energy and motivation now than ever. I’m doing my best to do the workouts every day — with my favorite being Tuesday (low carb) sprint day!

I’ve also been doing a strength training class on Tuesday nights and getting in as many runs as possible. My goal is still mileage over speed and to hit a total of 31 miles (or 1 per day) each month. It’s May 9th and I’m at 8.89 miles for the month right now.

I’m also trying to get at least 3 Peleton rides in a week (I love doing runs with the Peleton app too!). As I’ve mentioned before, you’re not supposed to weigh yourself on the program and focus more on non-scale victories (NSV). I’ve been able to size down in more and more clothes lately and can see clear changes in my muscle tone. I did weigh myself at the halfway point and I’m the smallest I’ve been since having L.

I still have more to lose and am eager to see my muscles come back (WHERE ARE MY ABS?) but I could not be happier with this program and am so glad I did round 2. Really looking forward to pushing through these last 2.5 weeks to see my final results — just in time for our neighborhood pool to open!

My coach, Kristen is incredible and definitely holds us accountable. I’ve learned so much about my own nutrition, gut health and fitness through this journey with her. If you want to hone in on your nutrition and ramp up your fitness with doable workouts (home or gym options!) and no crazy diet restrictions, click here and put KRISTEN MILLS for your coach. She’s a spunky, mom of 3 boys who posts the most inspirational stories each day. I just love her!
