I can hardly believe that we’re at the end of August and it’s time to share what books I’ve read in the second third of the year. You can get a recap of the books I read in the first 1/3 of the year here.

I have been a major book worm lately — in part due to two much needed vacations where I was able to breeze through a few excellent books. I’m 6 books ahead of my goal of 52 this year — so hopefully I’ll continue with that trend and exceed my goal (maybe I should change it to 60?).

I’m going to list the books I’ve read in order of how much I liked them (best at the top!):
1. 28 Summers
2. Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo*
3. Cleo McDougal Regrets Nothing
5. Such a Fun Age*
6. Finding Freedom (as if I could love H & M more!)
7. The Night Swim *
8. What Happens in Paradise (significantly better than Winter in Paradise!)
9. Big Summer *
10. Eleanor Oliphant is Perfectly Fine
12. In Twenty Years
12. The Last Flight*
13. Beach Read*
14. One to Watch*
17. A Good Marriage*
18. Party of Two
19. Sex & Vanity
21. The Heir Affair
23. Maybe This Time
Books with an asterisk are books that I got through my Book of the Month (BOTM) subscription. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Each month, I get to pick a new book and can add on any others that I’m interested in for only $9.99. A lot of these books are over $15 on Amazon (or at other book stores) so the price is great.

I jumped right into my first book of the last third of the year, and devoured Majesty, the follow up to American Royals. It was much better than the first book but I’m hoping we get another to round out the story of Daphne and Jeff.

I’ve picked 11 books I want to read for the next third of the year — which would make me hit my goal of 1/week — but I’d love if I could get through another 20+ books by the end of the year.

I’d love to hear what you’re reading or recommend for me to add to my list!
Do you reccomend the book of the month subscription to everyone? I’m trying to up my reading game.

If you’re already buying books weekly/monthly anyway — then I feel like it’s worth it. I usually get 3 books in my box and it has DEF helped me read more without spending quite as much as I would ordering new to the world books elsewhere. That link will get you your first book for 9.99!

Can you choose the genres and type of books? Or is it randomized?

They have 5 new books each month. They cover a variety of genres and then you can add on other books — again from a variety of genres. I tend to go for chick lit 😬 but I’ve gotten historical fiction, biographies and others since starting this subscription. I also love how they feature Black and POC authors so people can widen their horizons.
