Book Club: 2021 begins

A list of the books I’ve read in 2021 and what’s in my to-be-read pile…

My reading has gotten off to a slow start this year — 4 books behind where I was this time last year. Probably has something to do with having a puppy who occupies a lot of “free” time. But I’m 18 books in, which still feels good. I have quite the to-be-read pile going.

I recently finished Elin Hilderbrand’s Summer of 69 and really enjoyed it. I don’t typically like books that aren’t set in today but this one was fun and I loved the multiple story lines. Plus she mentioned Woods Hole in the story and we went there a few years ago!

I also recently finished Good Company and The Woman in the Window, both were good. I really enjoyed Her Dark Lies, Eliza Starts a Rumor and Finlay Donovan is Killing it. Agatha Arch is Afraid of Everything was fun, too. And I can’t forget Michelle Obama’s Becoming. I had it on my shelf for a while (Landon jokes I collect biographies) but I finally cracked it open and I learned so much more about her and have even more respect for her as a woman, a mother and First Lady.

Book club in my neighborhood is starting back up and we selected The Secret Life of Addie LaRue. I already had that on my bookshelf in a TBR pile, along with Born a Crime, Malibu Rising and The Last Thing He Told Me. I’m currently reading Stacey Abrams book While Justice Sleeps — yes, that Stacey Abrams! A woman of many talents. For Pride Month, my company is holding a book club and we’re reading Megan Rapinoe’s book – I love how the book club is broken up into just a few chapters a week to discuss.

Here’s the full list of 18 books so far this year:

I’m hoping to catch up on my reading over some of our planned vacations this year. Our beach trip last year got me 3.5 books, so there’s hope for catching up to my goal.

What’s your favorite book you’ve read this year? Anything good on your TBR list?
