Girls Trip to Arizona

Earlier this year, I texted my two friends, Emily & Tonya, after having a dream that we had gone on a trip to NYC together. But then we said, “why not?”

We’ve all been to NYC, we met in Florida, and we’ve spent time in Colorado together. So we brainstormed where would be fun to go, new for all of us and would have good weather. We landed on Scottsdale, Arizona.

Tonya found the Westin Kierland Resort for us to stay at and it was pretty perfect. It had a lazy river that we spent a ton of time in, a nice outdoor area for eating and listening to music and a spa.

We all booked our flights from our respective parts of the country and landed in 100 degree weather in Scottsdale. I don’t actually mind the heat, but it has become a running joke that all the moisture gets sucked out of my body when I fly west and I inevitably end up sick. I could not drink enough water while we were there, though I did slip in some beers and cocktails too.

We only had four days and wanted to make the most of it. Our list of things to do included a hike, a trip to the spa, fun dinners and time in the lazy river. We hadn’t all been together since the summer of 2019 due to COVID so we really just wanted time to catch up.

We hiked at South Mountain and then had an incredible brunch at The Farm. There was lots of sweat and obviously lots of pictures taken.

My friend Taylor (not Swift) recommended a ton of excellent restaurants. We made reservations well in advance and were not disappointed. Maple & Ash was divine.

One day was reserved for the spa (though I’m pretty sure we headed right back out to the pool afterwards). I was a big fan of the steam room and also cucumber water because of previously mentioned unquenchable thirst during the trip.

I’m so glad we took the trip. It was so wonderful to be reunited with these friends that I met almost TWENTY years ago. I don’t necessarily want to relive my freshman year of college (IYKYK) but I am so grateful I met these two souls that year and have had the joy of being their friend ever since.

Counting down the days until our next reunion! Maine? Canada? Puerto Rico? Let’s go!
